Well Being Development
Northern Lights Clubhouse Director

The mission of Well Being Development (WBD) is to inspire and foster activities that develop and enhance the mental well-being of residents in and around the rural NE Minnesota communities of Babbitt, Ely, Embarrass, Soudan, Tower, and Winton.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking a challenging and rewarding career working in a non-clinical clubhouse community, the Northern Lights Clubhouse (NLC). The NLC Director will work under the direction of the WBD board to implement a Clubhouse program following the standards of the International Center for Clubhouse Development.


  1. Leadership and Vision
    1. Educate community and stakeholders about mental health and advocate for NLC programs
    2. Engage NLC members and staff in the vision of the Clubhouse Model of Recovery

  1. Program Management
  1. Work with NLC members, staff, and volunteers to meet the mission and goals of NLC

  1. Development
  1. Work closely with WBD board to create and implement annual development plan
  2. Identify and seek potential sources of funding
  3. Manage reporting from funders

  1. Human Resources
  1. Hire, supervise, manage, and evaluate staff
  2. Train staff according to roles, job descriptions, and WBD employee requirements
  3. Support professional development of staff

  1. Financial Management
  1. Work with finance committee to prepare and manage monthly and annual budget
  2. Ensure NLC is in compliance with legal requirements (filing, documentation)

  1. Communication
  1. Connect with local media and the public including civic clubs, social service orgs, and the local business community
  2. Manage websites and social media

  1. Administration
  1. Create and implement an annual strategic plan, with the help of the board
  2. Assess program components and financial information and data and make policy recommendations to the board

Preferred experience and qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Non-profit management including grant writing and fundraising experience
  • Excellent written & oral communication, organization, and time management skills
